last year at this time I vowed to draw more. “at least one completed illustration a month” and looking back, I think I actually did! I had more options for every month (with the exception of December, but I wanted to post early), and I can look back at these works and recall specific artistic milestones from the past year.
But its a new year, and its time to set more ambitious goals. I’ve decided 2013 will be the year I will experiment with designs, poses and concepts. While I like my work from this past year, I tend to default to familiar territory. Hopefully my new job as a character layout artist on China IL, will help me break out of my comfort zone.

This is a drawing I revisited from 2007. Harry Potter fanart was a big part of my life when the Deathly Hallows book came out… unfortunately all of it was awful. Every once in a while someone on deviantart favorites or comments on an old piece and I get an overwhelming urge to redraw it. If you really want to hurt your eyes you can see the original here.
I was lucky enough to be asked to make an illustration for the Motorcity panel/booth at comic con! I’ve been wanting to make Motorcity fanart anyway, I love the character designs. This is still unfinished, but you can see the finished version at the convention next week!
Here’s my finished piece or the PixelDrip gallery’s Community-themed art show, Six Seasons and a Movie! I am crazy exited to be part of this. I’ll also be displaying my backgrounds from “The Digital Estate Planning” episode. If you’re going to be in Los Angeles June 23-24 you can check it out and maybe buy a print!

How did Joss Whedon make the two characters I find most uninteresting in the Marvel Universe suddenly so sympathetic and adorable?

Here’s some of my Community background’s from last nights “Digital Estate Planning”.
I LOVED working on this episode, and Community is my favorite comedy on TV. I think this is some of the best professional work I’ve ever made.
